Women in Filmmaking

Kimberlee Bassford will be one of two filmmakers featured at the inaugural “Women in Filmmaking” gathering on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 6:30pm at The ARTS at Marks Garage in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Using a screening and discussion format, the series meets on the last Wednesday of each month and invites local Hawai‘i female filmmakers to discuss their work, exchange experience and share their expertise and personal reflections about the making of films and the workings of the movie industry.

Independent filmmaker and Program Manager for Pacific Islanders in Communications Leanne Ferrer will also be featured at the February 23 event.  The event is free and open to the public.  It is sponsored by the University of Hawai‘i Diversity and Equity Initiative, in collaboration with The ARTS at Marks Garage and the Filmmaking for Social Research Program, UH Globalization Research Center.  For more information, please contact Vera Zambonelli at veraz@hawaii.edu or visit womeninfilmmaking.org.
