Civil Beat sponsors screening of PATSY MINK
This year marks the 45th anniversary of Title IX, the landmark legislation that opened up higher education and athletics to America’s women, as well as the 15th anniversary of the death of its co-author, Hawai‘i’s late Congresswoman Patsy Mink.
In honor of these occasions, Honolulu Civil Beat has organized “Civil Cafe: The Legacy of Patsy Mink and Why Title IX Still Matters.” The event begins with a screening of PATSY MINK: AHEAD OF THE MAJORITY and continues with a panel discussion moderated by Civil Beat reporter Denby Fawcett of Patsy Mink’s legacy and the challenges and impact of Title IX today.
The event is co-sponsored by Windward Community College’s Women’s History Month and WCC’s student newspaper Ka ‘Ohana.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/civil-cafe-the-legacy-of-patsy-mink-and-why-title-ix-still-matters-tickets-32075440506.
